FEBRUARY 19, 2018—One of the leading tertiary hospitals in the region, Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (BRTTH) will be celebrating 100 years of caring with compassion to the public. The 100 days countdown to its centennial celebration kicked off by turning on a digital clock in the hospital’s lobby television. It was initiated by the Executive Committee composed of Dr. Rogelio G. Rivera, Medical Center Chief; Dr. Salvacion S. Macinas, Chief of Medical Professional Staff; Cecilia E. Dela Peña, RN, MAN, Ph.D., Chief of Nursing Service; Nathalie P. Montes, CPA, MBA, Chief of Finance; and Delia N. Atutubo, CPA, MBA, Chief Administrative Services represented by Mr. Peter Almonte, Budget Officer.
“100 years of commitment to service and hopefully sa future maging committed pa din man po kita giraray,” Dr. Rivera stated.
The activity transpired in front of the BRTTH historical main building which was donated by the American Government to the Province of Albay in the year 1918, when it became the Albay Provincial Hospital (APH) headed by Dr. Shannon Richmond. The building remained as the main structure of BRTTH today, with modifications, as the institution grew with time.
BRTTH laid out series of activities to hype its centennial celebration. It commenced with an event logo and slogan writing contest.
Some of the events highlighted within the 100 days are the celebration of the World Kidney Day and International Women’s Month through a fun walk and Zumba dance for health on March 10. To celebrate the 10th decade in service, the toast for healthier kidneys will be done while in a human formation in the shape of “100.”
A short film competition that will depict the highlights and other related stories of BRTTH will also be held with a shortlisting of storylines and scripts on March 26.
On May 24, the hospital will have a Patients’ Day.
There will be a BRTTH Night on May 25 where service awards will be given to employees who have been with BRTTH for a long time.
On May 26, there will be a homecoming night for the former employees and staff of BRTTH.
The celebration will culminate with a gala night on May 29, 2018.
