Global Big Latch On events take place during the World Breastfeeding Week at registered locations around the world, where people gather together to breastfeed and offer peer support to each other. This year 2018 last August 3, the Philippine Pediatric Society (PPS) has invited the BRTTH to host this global activity. BRTTH Public Health Unit together with the Pediatrics Department and the Breastfeeding Committee, in coordination with the PPS Bicol Chapter has spearheaded the activity, along with the theme “Dare to Bare.”

A total of 97 breastfeeding mothers participated in the said activity, wherein Director Napoleon Arevalo gave the Inspirational Talk encouraging mothers of the importance of breastfeeding, followed by a testimony from Champion Breastfeeding Mother Advocator Dr. Rita Mae Ang-Bon.

A Lay Forum on Advantages and Disadvantages of Breastfeeding was led by Mrs. Cynthia B. Tuanqui, then on Taking Care of the Postpartum Body by Dr. Sheryl Deterala. A real-time clock was flashed onstage to serve as a countdown to 10:00am which marks the start of the simultaneous breastfeeding. It was then followed by the Support Group Roles and Responsibilities led by Dr. Raoul Emmanuel O. Zantua, and the Pledge of Commitment led by PHU Nurse and breastfeeding mother Brenda Marie B. Arce. Pediatrics Department Head Dr. Arlene Ludovice gave the Closing remarks for the activity.
