In the light of the COVID-19 situation, the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital foisted out its response strategies to cope up with the global pandemic. Along with the plans to deliver quality care for COVID patients, corresponding priority on the safety of the healthcare workers was also given precedence.
During the earlier waves of the pandemic, a COVID-19 Task Force unit was established by the hospital to lead the over-all response for COVID-19. Moreover, strengthening of the triage system and the establishment of policies and procedures were put into place. Daily conduct of 9’oclock habit meeting was done to discuss updates and hospital concerns. Prepositioning and monitoring of logistics as well as conduct of trainings were also implemented accordingly.
Furthermore, simulation exercise was initiated to furnish the flow of incoming patients and vehicles. With this, robust exercises of communication and coordination was facilitated particularly involving the COVID designated areas to ensure a well-executed process of admitting confirmed, suspect and probable patients. Inter-agency collaboration and cooperation was also undertaken to align and disseminate policies and operational plans.
To stem the tide of escalating cases, myriads of tasks were performed to address hospital concerns relative thereto. As health systems were stretched beyond its capacity, BRTTH extended well beyond its expanse to be able to manage COVID-19 cases.
With this, BRTTH continuously develop, implement and adopt new ways to operate in the new normal and gear its efforts to shore up effectivity and bolters efficiency to become resilient in this time of prodigious pandemic.
