BRTTH Launches Bicol’s First Vaccine Registry Information System

On July 29, 2021, the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (BRTTH) formally launched its Vaccine Registry Information System (VRIS), the first vaccination module in Bicol Region. Developed by the BRTTH - Integrated Hospital Operation Management Program-Information Technology (IHOMP-IT) Unit, the module for the system has been embedded into the Hospital Operations and Management Information System (HOMIS) to store information for the vaccination records of the hospital.

Open Heart Surgeries Conducted at BRTTH

The Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (BRTTH) in collaboration with the Philippine Heart Center (PHC) conducted a series of open-heart surgeries from May 9 - 15, 2021. During the week-long activity held at the BRTTH Heart Center Building, 5 patients with severe coronary heart disease underwent Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) operations, and 1 patient underwent mitral valve replacement.
BRTTH SUPPORTS SORSOGON FMRTP

On June 30, 2021, representatives from Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (BRTTH) trooped to Sorsogon to attend the formal launching of the Sorsogon Provincial Hospital (SPH)-Family Medicine Residency Training Program (FMRTP), which included the ceremonial signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two institutions. The BRTTH contingent included Family Medicine Department Head Dr. Lea F. Remonte, Training Officer Dr. Cruzantina L. De Guzman, medical residents, and office staff. Representing the BRTTH Medical Center Chief was Chief Administrative Officer Mr. Peter B. Almonte. Sorsogon Governor Chiz Escudero led the precidings, supported by Dr. Renato B. Bolo, Jr. and Dr. Roberto A. Chacon representing SPH, with Dr. Aileen Espina representing the Philippine Association of Family Physicians (PAFP), which is the recognized specialty society for Family Medicine as well as the accrediting body for the FMRTP.
TeleHealth Project – Program Implementation Review and Planning Workshop

As of May 2021, the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (BRTTH) has already served over eight hundred clients via its TeleHealth Project since its launching on October 2, 2020. Dubbed as “Call Center for Health”, with the objective to serve clients from the comfort of their homes, the project minimizes patient expenditures, lessens the need for travel and faces challenges posed by pandemic-related protocols and restrictions. This uses the one of the most convenient methods offered by modern technology: the smart phone.
To evaluate the implementation of the TeleHealth Project, the BRTTH Public Health Unit (PHU) facilitated a Program Implementation Review (PIR) and Planning Worshop last May 11-12, 2021.
