BRTTH-IRB Attends 14th PNHRS Week Celebration
The Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital-Institutional Review Board (BRTTH-IRB) joined the health research community in celebrating the 14th Philippine National Health Research System (PNHRS) Week on August 3-13, 2021.
This year’s celebration was hosted by the Zamboanga Consortium for Health Research and Development (ZCHRD) with the Department of Science and Technology IX (DOST IX), following the theme “Health R&D in the New Normal: Moving Towards Universal Health Care.” The first virtual celebration of PNHRS, the event employed a both live and pre-recorded presentations conveyed through online media.
The 14th PNHRS Week program included satellite sessions for the North and South Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao Clusters, preconference competitions for both student and professional researchers, and finally the main conferences, which consisted of plenary and parallel sessions on trending health research topics, particularly those relating to universal healthcare.
PNHRS Week celebrations are held every second week of August per Presidential Proclamation No. 1309 S. 2007, recognizing research as very crucial in “facilitating the development of national health policies towards an equitable, efficient and effective health system.”
DOST is one of the agencies directed to lead PNHRS week, together with the Department of Health, and the Commission on Higher Education. BRTTH is a member of the Bicol Consortium for Health Research and Development, one of 17 regional consortia under the DOST-Philippine Council for Health Research and Development.
