BRTTH CMPS takes Oath of Office

Alma Bella G. Rivera, MD, MMHoA, FPOGS, took her oath of office as Chief of Medical Professional Staff II (CMPS) of the Bicol Regional Training and Teaching Hospital (BRTTH) on January 28, 2022 with other newly appointed hospital executives across the country,  during a virtual ceremony officiated by Department of Health Secretary Dr. Francisco T. Duque, III.  Right after the oath-taking, BRTTH held its own celebration to welcome the new CMPS, who also received a blessing from hospital chaplain Rev. Fr. Romeo C. Cirujales, Jr.

Mr. Peter B. Almonte, Chief Administrative Officer and other members and representatives of the ExeCom congratulated the new CMPS and gave assurance of their support, commitment, and eagerness to work with her.  Medical Center Chief Dr. Eric Raymond N. Raborar commended the contributions of Dr. Rivera since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, adding that her passion for healthcare service would greatly help the institution and effectively guide the medical division as it moves towards attaining its goals.  The Chief also took the opportunity to thank OIC-CMPS Dr. Honey May P. Raborar who kept the office running for over a year, and awarded her with a plaque of appreciation for excellent service despite unexpected problems and adversities brought about by the pandemic.

In her speech to BRTTH personnel, the new CMPS said that it was with humility that she was accepting the post which she only applied for after much deliberation and contemplation.  According to her, “iniyakan ko ito… humigi ako ng sign, lahat binigay.” Having worked for the government for 32 years already, Dr. Rivera – who is better known as Doc Amy, was entertaining thoughts of retirement, thinking she had already fulfilled her mission to serve the people; a mission engraved in her since her days as “Iska” or “Iskolar ng Bayan” at the University of the Philippines and as a young resident at the Philippine General Hospital.  However, the former Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology was repeatedly prodded and encouraged to apply for the vacant post.  Taking on the challenge of being CMPS was one of the most difficult decisions she has ever had to make, but Doc Amy’s sense of duty and dedication to BRTTH won her over.
